Medister patties with sauerkraut and potatoes

Sauerkraut with caraway belongs next to pork and sausages. Medister patties are a simple everyday version of the Christmas dinner, and the sauerkraut brings sharpness to the rich meat.

Makes 4 peopleTime 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 600 g medister sausage meat
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 800 g potatoes
  • 2 dl water
  • 12 tbsp sauerkraut with caraway
  • Salt and pepper
  • A little honey (optional)

Method

  1. Put the potatoes on to boil.
  2. Shape 8 patties from the sausage meat with wet hands and flatten them slightly.
  3. Fry the patties in butter in a frying pan over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes on each side, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Take the patties out, pour the water into the pan and bring it to the boil while scraping up the browned bits. Season the pan juices with salt and pepper.
  5. Serve the patties with potatoes, pan juices and sauerkraut with caraway straight from the jar.

Tip

If you find the sauerkraut too sour, drizzle a little honey over it.
